Mokuti to the Max (and to the Mini)
The Kaviso x QSP Penguin collabs have quite a reputation. Eye-catching aesthetics, rare materials, and unique finishing touches a la the Penguin Pivots are all expected at this point with each new edition. All autumn long we’ve been working with the QSP factory to bring these fan favorite specs (along with some new tweaks) to the newly minted Penguin Mini and Penguin Plus. Now in stock and ready to ship – just in time to make the cut for your 2022 knife collection.
Purple Penguins
Eye popping purple anodized titanium hardware accents the piece along with the purple titanium penguin pivot found only on knives in the Kaviso x QSP lineup. Final touches include S35VN premium steel blade in your choice of satin or stonewashed finishes, along with new, more rounded, removable thumbstuds. Let this little fella waddle his way into your collection – you won’t be disappointed.
Penguin Plus Frame Lock Mokuti
We couldn’t pass this one up – everything that made the OG Mokuti Penguin a fan favorite in a full sized, full hand piece of cutting magic. Overall length increased by a little less than an inch to 3.375” + flipper tab addition for a second deployment option. New and improved rounded thumbstuds which are removable and anodized to match handle hardware. To top it off we have the QSP x Kaviso Signatures: Mokuti scales, purple anodized hardware, penguin pivot, and S35VN premium blade steel. All pieces in this first production batch are serialized and poised to go quick – pick yours up and start your tripping experience before 2022 is up.
ABOUT QSP
QSP Knives have been building momentum within the knife scene as both a brand of EDC blades as well as an OEM manufacturer for boutique knife creators. Any knife leaving the QSP factory has a well earned reputation for fit and finish, as well as longevity after being used and abused.
A CLOSER LOOK AT S35VN STEEL
Developed by Crucible Industries (one of the leading manufacturers of specialty steels for the cutlery industry) and Chris Reeve (arguably the most famous knifemaker in the world), S35VN is perhaps the most balanced blade steel ever created in terms of all-around performance. It’s made through a process of Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM), which results in near perfect consistency in the distribution of carbides. Compared to conventional melting practices, the CPM process produces a steel characterized by superior dimensional stability, grindability, and toughness.
